We operate underground gas storage facilities, and our automated management system means we can reliably fill them in any season.
We ensure supply security and gas system stability, meaning we can cancel out both seasonal and geopolitical influences.

WHERE WE STORE GAS
We store natural gas in deep aquifer sandstone layers near Darmstadt in Hesse. These natural underground structures were already used in the 1970s for the storage of town gas before storage of natural gas started. Town gas contained up to 54% hydrogen (H2), so we can logically deduce that our storage facilities will one day genuinely store energy in the form of H2.
